CP Rail's 50' Hawker Siddeley Newsprint Cars were specialized boxcars designed for transporting newsprint and other paper products. These cars were 50 feet in length, providing ample space for large paper rolls. They featured a distinctive green paint scheme, which set them apart from CP Rail's standard red boxcars used for general service. This green color was specifically chosen to designate the cars for newsprint service. CP Rail began acquiring these 50' Hawker Siddeley boxcars in the mid to late 1960s and were in service into the early 2000s.
